Spend the next day relaxing at the resort or explore the modernist architecture of Chandigarh before returning to Delhi. Day 1

ARRIVE IN DELHI (STAY AT THE OBEROI GURGAON, DELHI)

Your luxury private journey of India begins on arrival in Delhi, where you will be met by a member of our team at the airport and chauffeured to your luxury hotel, the Oberoi, Gurgaon, an urban sanctuary with bespoke design features, high ceilings and open spaces filled with natural light. Depending on the time you land, if you would like to explore a bit of Delhi later today your chauffeur is always on hand otherwise relax and shake off the jetlag.

 

Day 2

DELHI TO SHIMLA (STAY AT THE OBEROI WILDFLOWER HALL, SHIMLA)

With an early start this morning, you’ll be chauffeured to the airport to board the daily direct flight to Shimla, once the summer capital of British India and considered as the Queen amongst all Hill Stations. Upon arrival, check into your luxurious Himalayan Retreat, the Oberoi’s Wildflower Hall, which offers outstanding views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountain range and the sloped roof houses doted around the hills. The site was the summer residence of Lord Kitchener. Although the hotel is now in a reconstructed builiding, its interiors reflect colonial charm with fireplaces in the room, poster beds and wooden floors. Spend the rest of your day at leisure – perhaps by the pool that leads into the outdoor jacuzzi. There is a range of experiences like picnics in the forest, tennis grounds etc.  

 

Day 3

SHIMLA

Today, discover Shimla’s colonial highlights with a guided sightseeing starting with the Viceregal Lodge, a striking 19th-century mansion, where the decision to partition India was taken. Then, a leisurely stroll along The Mall will reveal some of the best examples of British architecture including the Victorian-Gothic Christ Church with its beautiful stained-glass windows. The afternoon will be spent at leisure to relax and enjoy the mountain views.

 

Day 4

SHIMLA TO CHANDIGARH (STAY AT THE OBEROI SUKHVILAS, CHANDIGARH)

This morning, board the much-loved Toy Train for a slow but beautiful journey through the Himalayas. An hour later, disembark at the small station of Shoghi to be met by your chauffeur, who will drive you to the Oberoi Sukhvilas, just outside Chandigarh. With 60 beautiful villas, tents and suites, Rajasthani touches are combined with colonial features, including chandeliers, four-poster beds, and free-standing bathtubs. Relax and indulge in spa therapies at the Oberoi spa.

 

Day 5

CHANDIGARH

Today, there’s the option of doing a half-day guided tour of Chandigarh. One of the world’s most remarkable urban creations, this purpose-built city designed by Le Corbusier in the 1950s is a picture of modernist architecture, most notably the UNESCO World Heritage site of Capitol Complex, the rock garden made with recucled mosaic or the rose garden. Alternatively, enjoy the Oberoi Sukhvilas’ fabulous spa facilities, including Ayurvedic therapies, massages, steam, sauna, Turkish hammam, and Roman baths.

 

Day 6

RETURN TO DELHI (STAY AT THE OBEROI GURGAON, DELHI)

This morning you’ll be chauffeured back to Delhi. Upon arrival, check into the Oberoi Gurgaon for your last night. The afternoon is yours at leisure with your car and driver on hand – we can arrange a city tour to take in some of Delhi’s highlights, including Humayun’s Tomb, which inspired the Taj Mahal, and a thrilling cycle-rickshaw ride through the bustling bazaars of Chandni Chowk.

 

Day 7

FINISH IN DELHI

Today, your luxury private journey ends. Transfer to Delhi airport in time for your onward flight.
