Day 1
ARRIVE IN DELHI (STAY AT THE OBEROI, NEW DELHI)

Your luxury private tour of India begins on arrival in Delhi, where you will be met by a member of our team at the airport and chauffeured to the recently re-opened Oberoi New Delhi in the heart of the city. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps going for a stroll through verdant Lodhi Gardens or exploring the enticing boutiques of Khan Market, a haven of fashion, beauty and homeware. The Oberoi, Delhi has undergone an extensive refurbishment and spells absolute luxury with fine dining restaurants, a wonderful spa and salon as well as a great coffee shop. There are a number of hotel options in Delhi but this is one of our top favourites because the spacious rooms are appointed with modern and chic interiors and great service so nothing is too much trouble, you just need to ask. 

 

Day 2

DELHI

Discover the myriad of sights in Old and New Delhi including the 17th- century Jama Masjid (the largest mosque in India), Qutb Minar and Humayun’s Tomb which is thought to have inspired the Taj Mahal. Finish the day with an exciting cycle-rickshaw ride through the bustling alleyways of Chandni Chowk’s souk-like bazaars, including Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market. Other highlights include: India Gate, Connaught Place and the Gandhi Museum. After a long day you could return to the Oberoi to relax or try one of the recommended restaurants like Bukhara at the ITC Maurya Sheraton or a drink at the Imperial to soak up some old world charm from the colonial period.

 

Day 3

DELHI TO AGRA (STAY AT THE OBEROI AMARVILAS)

Leave Delhi in good time this morning to be chauffeured to Agra, where you’ll check in to the Oberoi Amarvilas. One of India’s finest luxury hotels, every room and suite has an uninterrupted view of the Taj Mahal, which is only a mere 600 metres away. The rooms with the terrace can further enhance the view by bringing you just a little closer to this breathtaking monument. There is also a stunning swimming pool, manicured gardens and a sumptuous spa. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, which was built as a monument to eternal love by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife who dies giving birth to their 14th child. Marvel at the interiors which have several different colored stones crushed and inlaid in the floral details on the spandrels of the arches and the pietra dura flowers made from at least 60 crushed semi precious stones. The Taj Mahal is known for reflecting pastel colored hues with the play of sunlight on its surfaces throughout the day. The afternoon visit is special as it radiates, an orangey pink as the sun goes down. 

Please note: you can start this journey on any day however the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.

 

Day 4

AGRA

Wake up to the glorious sight of the Taj Mahal and its pastel hues at dawn. The best part about being at the Oberoi is the ability to see the Taj Mahal away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists any time of the day with its constantly changing shades. After a delicious breakfast, begin your privately-guided tour of Agra, taking in another Mughal masterpiece Agra Fort, a palatial red-sandstone and marble fortress along the Yamuna River which was constructed by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Then visit Itmad-ud-daulah, nicknamed the ‘baby Taj’, the exquisite white marble tomb of a Persian nobleman Mizra Ghiyas Beg, which features particularly fine carved jalis (lattice windows). Return to the Oberoi and relax on the lawns or indulge in a bath full of rose petals.

 

Day 5

AGRA TO JAIPUR VIA FATEHPUR SIKRI (STAY AT THE OBEROI RAJVILAS)

Travel to Jaipur by road, stopping en route at the magnificent ancient city, Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal empire, deserted in a hurry when it ran out of the water. In the afternoon, arrive in Jaipur aka 'the Pink City', the vibrant capital of Rajasthan. A member of our team will be waiting to greet you at the Oberoi Rajvilas, one of India’s most spectacular luxury hotels with breath-taking landscaped gardens. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. The Rajvilas is tucked away close to the Aravalis and features rooms as well as tents with pastel block printed canvas roofs dotted around intimate courtyards. Entice your tastebuds in mouthwatering cuisine and absolute relaxation in the claw foot bath tubs to recover from the long drive.

 

Day 6

JAIPUR

Today, you’ll be discovering the best of Jaipur. Led by a local expert, you’ll begin by exploring the City Palace and its private rooms then continue on for a photo-stop at the stunning Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and a visit to the Jantar Mantar observatory. In the afternoon, make your way on elephant back to the splendid 17th-century Amber Fort, before spending the evening with elephants at Dera Amer. Jaipur is also the city of festivals and tempting bazaars so a real feast to the eyes and a photographer's dream. There is a number of activities that can be tailored to suit your individual interests from learning the art of block printing or blue pottery or visiting some of the most written about bars in Jaipur.

 

Day 7

JAIPUR TO RANTHAMBORE (STAY AT THE OBEROI VANYAVILAS)

Private transfer to Ranthambore National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll be chauffeured to the Oberoi Vanyavilas, a safari-camp meets boutique hotel, with stunning luxury tents draped in traditional Rajasthani block-printed fabric and fully air-conditioned. Nestled in a lush green area close to the home of the tiger, this hotel grows most of its own herbs and vegetables and is extremely child friendly with several activities for the little ones. In the afternoon, let The Jungle Book be brought to life as you explore Ranthambore with a private jeep safari, in search of the park’s most famous resident, the rare Royal Bengal tiger. The jeep safaris can be a little tiring so relax and reminisce your tiger sightings in the hotel as you prepare for the next day for your game drive.

Please note: Ranthambore National Park is closed between June and October.

 

Day 8

RANTHAMBORE

Continue your exploration of Ranthambore today with two private jeep safaris (both morning and afternoon drives are recommended for the best chance to spot the tiger). There’s an array of sambars, marsh crocodiles, sloth bears and leopard, too, plus fantastic birdlife. Between safaris, climb the crumbling 10th-century Ranthambhore Fort that rests majestically on the edge of the forest. After your morning safari you can relax and enjoy a light brunch before commencing your second game drive. The forest is divided into various different zones and each game drive takes you on a different route to maximise the chance of spotting the magnificent tiger. 

 

Day 9

RANTHAMBORE TO UDAIPUR (STAY AT THE OBEROI UDAIVILAS)

On arrival in Udaipur, you’ll take a short boat ride to the Oberoi Udaivilas. Located on the banks of sparkling Lake Pichola, this luxury hotel is set among 50 acres of former royal hunting grounds with beautiful bedrooms and suites. Stay in rooms with exquisite vistas or suites with private plunge pools and dine like the Maharajas in the multi-cuisine restaurants. The spa of this hotel is our favourite and overlooks the Lake Palace. In the afternoon, travel by boat across the lake to Jagmandir Island, featuring a beautiful palace, once used by the royal family as a summer retreat and also the setting for James Bond's Octopussy.

 

Day 10

UDAIPUR

Known as the ‘Venice of the East’, Udaipur is one of Rajasthan’s most romantic cities. Spend the morning with a local expert, exploring the magnificent City Palace, an impressive complex on the banks of Lake Pichola exhibiting palanquins and miniature paintings the building itself is a living example of traditional Rajasthani architecture. Thereafter, walk through the narrow streets of the old city to the ancient bazaar, which buzzes with shops selling colourful clothing, silver jewellery, a plethora of marble homeware, fountains and antiques as well as vibrant art and leather-bound journals.  In the afternoon, you will be taken to the Vintage car museum, Jag Mandir temple and the Saheliyon ki Badi gardens to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a relaxing stroll. 

 

Day 11

UDAIPUR TO MUMBAI (STAY AT THE OBEROI, MUMBAI)

Spend the morning at leisure before being transferred to the airport for your flight to Mumbai. On arrival, you will be chauffeured to the Oberoi, located on exclusive Marine Drive, with unparalleled views of the ocean. The rest of the day can be spent relaxing – there’s a fabulous pool – before enjoying one of the three restaurants, including Ziya, which boasts an Indian menu designed by Michelin-starred chef Vineet Bhatia. A late afternoon stroll to see the Gateway of India and browse around Colaba Causway at the curios and shops.

 

Day 12

MUMBAI

Today, you will be exploring the best of Mumbai with a private guide. After a feast of a breakfast, discover the city’s stunning colonial heritage and magnificent architecture, including Flora Fountain, Elphinstone Circle, the High Court and Victoria Terminus. End the afternoon at the Chowpaty beach and visit a roof top bar to take int he views. Alternatively visit the Chattrapati Shivaji Vastu Sangharalaya museum. There’s plenty of great shopping to be enjoyed, too, as well as a fantastic food scene for which we can give recommendations.

 

Day 13

FINISH IN MUMBAI

Today, your luxury private tour ends. Transfer to Mumbai airport in time for your onward flight.
