Day 1

ARRIVE IN DELHI (STAY AT THE IMPERIAL, DELHI)

Your luxury private honeymoon tour of India begins on arrival in Delhi, where you will be met by a member of our team at the airport and chauffeured to The Imperial, a beautiful combination of Art Deco, Victorian and colonial architecture. The Imperial is reminicent of life in the 1930's colonial times when it was built for Viceroys and other dignatories during the British Raj and is definitely the right choice for those wanting to relive history. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps going for a stroll through verdant Lodi Gardens or just relaxing in your luxurious hotel to unwind from the long flight.

Day 2

DELHI

Start the day with a guided walking tour through the bustling alleyways of Chandni Chowk’s souk-like bazaars, including Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market and Kinari bazaar famous for wedding outfits. Spend the day discovering the myriad of sights in Old and New Delhi including the 17th- century Jama Masjid, Qutb Minar and Humayun’s Tomb which is thought to have inspired the Taj Mahal. Other highlights include India Gate, Connaught Place and the Lotus Temple. This morning, you'll be chauffeured to Agra, where you’ll check into the Gateway Hotel which has 100 comfortable rooms, lovely gardens and a great selection of restaurants. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, which was built as a monument to eternal love by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife who dies giving birth to their 14th child. Marvel at the interiors which have several different colored stones crushed and inlaid in the floral details on the spandrels of all the arches. The Taj Mahal is known for reflecting pastel colored hues with the play of sunlight on its surfaces throughout the day. The afternoon visit is special as it radiates an orangey pink as the sun goes down.

In the evening you can visit the Oberoi Amarvilas for dinner and a glimpse of the Taj Mahal shining in the moonlight.

Please note: you can start this journey on any day however the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.

After a delicious breakfast, begin your privately-guided tour of Agra, taking in another Mughal masterpiece Agra Fort, a palatial red-sandstone and marble fortress along the Yamuna River which was constructed by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Then visit Itmad-ud-daulah, nicknamed the ‘baby Taj’, the exquisite white marble tomb of a Persian nobleman Mizra Ghiyas Beg, which features particularly fine carved jalis.

Travel to Jaipur by road, stopping on route at the magnificent ancient city, Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal empire which was abandoned due to lack of water. In the afternoon, arrive in Rajasthan’s vibrant capital Jaipur to be given a royal welcome at the Rambagh Palace. Experience grandeur and extravagance at this former royal residence, with peacocks meandering in the tranquil setting and rooms adorned with antiques and tapestries. The property features some of the city’s top restaurants. The remainder of the day is spent at leisure. In the evening, we recommend one of the private dining experiences such as an exquisite dinner under the marble arches at the Baradari, lit with an ocean of candles.

Led by a local expert, you’ll begin by exploring the City Palace and its private rooms then continue for a photo-stop at the stunning Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and a visit to the Jantar Mantar observatory. Owned and run by the former royal family, the property is a mix of Rajasthani meets colonial with beautiful bedrooms, huge comfortable old-fashioned baths and towering ceilings. Featured in the Conde Naste, it is the most romantic swimming pool and  setting in the wilderness of rural Rajasthan. This property is a top favourite for many of our clients.
