Best Restaurants in Jaipur, Rajasthan

Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur is famous for several reasons: magnificent forts and palaces, charming havelis, friendly locals and rainbow-hues everywhere you look. However, no trip to the ‘Pink City’ is complete without tucking into some authentic Rajasthani food. Combining gastronomic traditions from the kitchens of the royals to the street stalls of everyday families, and fusing local culinary traditions with those of neighboring areas, Jaipur is a foodie’s paradise. Here are our top three restaurants…

Bar Palladio
A peacock-blue city hotspot of frescoed walls, tented pavilions and arched doorways, Bar Palladio is housed in Narain Niwas Palace, which starred as the regal Viceroy Club in the much-loved film Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.Inspired by the iconic Caffé Florian and Harry’s Bar in Venice, ‘Palladio’ hits all the high notes for its delicious Italian cuisine. Run by Italian owner Barbara Miolini, who used to work for Villa Cipriani, the menu features the highest quality ingredients alongside home-made pasta. There’s a fantastic drinks menu, ranging from crisp martinis and classic negronis to Venetian spritz and the signature Marina Rossa.
Niros

Established in 1949, Niros is a long-standing favorite on bustling MI Rd. It was the first restaurant in Jaipur to serve Chinese food way back in the 1960s. Now, going on its seventh decade, the place continues to hit the high notes for its classic décor, attentive service and extensive menu, from northern Indian standbys like chicken tikka masala and veggie curries to dumplings, stir-frys, omelettes, and even mushroom stroganoff, as well as Indo-Chinese items such as fried paneer in Sichuan sauce. Children will love the old-school sweets including American Ice Cream Sodas and Knickerbocker Glory sundaes.

Rambagh Palace Restaurants

Luxury hotel Rambagh Palace boasts a rich history with sumptuous food cooked by award-winning chefs. Some of Jaipur’s best multi-cuisine and Indian restaurants can be found here including SuvarnaMahal. With high ceilings, gilded mirrors and Florentine frescoes, it’s both a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds, serving royal cuisines from the princely states of Rajasthan, Awadh, Punjab, and Hyderabad. The polo bar, adorned with sporting memorabilia, is perfect for a cocktail beforehand. During the day, the Verandah Café is a lovely place for coffee or lunch or high tea on the Rambagh lawns with beautiful views of the palace gardens and peacocks meandering.

SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace Restaurants

This small Art Deco palace hotel, owned by Jaipur’s royal family, is a bold contemporary take on palatial Indian style with 14 exquisite rooms and a collection of excellent restaurants. The Orient-Occident, is one of the more formal dining spaces, serving traditional recipes of Jaipur, now rarely encountered elsewhere. 51 Shades of Pink is a celebration of color offering a lighter cafe style menu and the glass-walled Colonnade overlooking the gardens is a relaxed affair with freshly-prepared comfort food . Last but not least, afternoon tea on the manicured lawns is a truly delicious – and unforgettable – experience overlooking the city and the poolside.
